Wlcome to ITRI~~

Today I went to visit Taiwan's famous Hsinchu Science Park. This is more than a park; it's a industrial research city that has been built around two technical universities just south of Taipei. Launched more than 30 years in the outskirts of the town of Hsinchu, the Science Park is now a huge campus of 400 private companies and government research institutes. Nearby are the two largest manufacturers of silicon chips in the world. They also produce most of LEDs and E-ink screens. I visited the Industrial Technological Research Institute, the granddaddy of the government funded science and development at the core of Hsinchu.

I got a tour of some recent innovations that are on their way to market. The one that really caught my attention was this flexible speaker, as thin as a piece of cotton cloth. It was uncanny. This sheet can deliver 80 decibels of sound. You could make a shirt or a dress out of it. And small pieces of it need no battery. Just plug it in to your iPod or phone. You pants could be making the music that you dance to! You have to hear it to believe it.
